In 2015, the world transitioned from the 8 Millennium Development goals (MDGs) set-up in 2001 to a more demanding and complex project called the sustainable development goals (SDGs). The SDGs revolve around five critical subjects — people, planet, prosperity, partnership and peace.
The world has 17 goals and 169 targets with hundreds of indicators to be accomplished by 2030. These will be unachievable without significant input of the private sector. The public or the private sector cannot achieve these on their own. In what ways can we promote public-private partnerships that contribute towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals?
